Steel for welding wire rod by non-twist hot-rolled controlled cooling
                                             
1 Scope
There are provisions for steel for welding wire rod by twistless hot-rolled controlled cooling in the standard, such as dimension, shape, weight, tolerances, technical requirements, test methods , inspection rules, packing, sign and quality certificate.
It is applicable for products, Preliminary Steel Rolling Plant, including welding-rod core of manual welding, wires for gas welding, automatic hidden arc welding, electroslag welding and gas-shielded welding, besides steel for welding wire rod by twistless hot-rolled controlled cooling.
2 Quoted Standard
Items, involving below the following standard, which are quoted, compose this standard. Version noted is valid when publishing. However, all of them may be revised. Thus, each party should probe into feasibility of latest version using the following standards.
AWS A5.18:1993  Standard for carbon steel welding electrodes and gas-shielded arc Welding Wire

GB 223  Chemical analysis methods of iron & steel and alloy
GB/T 3429-94  Wire rod for electrode

3 Dimension, shape, weight and tolerances
The above shall be subject to Q/BQB 501 standard.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Grade and chemical composition
4.1.1 Grade of steel and its chemical composition(ingredient of product) shall be subject    to Table 1
4.1.2 Upon purchase’s requests, wire rods, other grade or chemical composition, shall be also supplied through agreement of both parties for supplier and purchaser.
4.2 Smelting Methods
Steel is smelted through oxygen converter or electric stove. Supposed no special note from purchaser, supplier shall have entitled to determine its method.

4.3  Delivery State
Wire rod should be delivered at the state of hot rolling.
4.4   Surface Quality
4.4.1 Surface of wire rod should be smooth and not allowed to have some defection, such as crack, fold, scar, stab, and etc. However, some damage shall be allowable, including impress and partial bulge, concave, scratch and roughness, of which its depth or height (upon its actual dimension): grade A accuracy is not exceeding 0.15mm; grade B and C is not more than 0.10mm.
4.4.2  Wire rod should cut all harmful defections, of which its section is not allowed to appear shrinkage cavity, delamination as well as inclusion.
4.4.3   Mill Scale
Weight of mill scale is not more than 10kg/t on the surface of wire rod. Supposed guarantee of supplier in technics, it is neglected to have the inspection.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Each batch of wire rod shall be subject to provisions of Table 2, including item, quantity, sampling position and test method.

5.2 Test method of mill scale
Getting the weight of sample of a bunch or many; and getting its weight again after removal for surface mill scale with the mechanical method. Ultimately, difference of them is its actual weight.
Formula for weight of mill scale of wire rod per ton is weight of mill scale(kg) ×1000(kg/t)

6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Check & Accept
Check & accept for wire rod shall be completed by technical supervision department of supplier.
6.2 Sets of batch rules
Wire rod shall be checked in batches. In addition, each batch is comprised of wire rods with the same grade, number of stove and dimension.
6.3 Reinspection and confirmation rules
If chemical composition (ingredient of product) can not meet requirement of standard, some measures should be taken, involved rejecting unqualified wire rod and getting any double quality of sample in the same batch to reinspect. Even though just an item indicates unqualified among reinspection results (including any one item required test), supplier may analyze bunch by bunch. Ultimately, it can be delivered when qualified.
7  Packing, Sign and Quality Certificate
7.1 Packing
Wire rod should be delivered in bunches. In addition, each bunch is comprised of a whole wire rod with not less than 3 straps.
7.2 Sign
Wire rod per bunch should be attached to 2 labels at least, which will provide supplier’s name, grade, number of stove, rolling and bunch, specification, weight, technical standard, and etc.
7.3 Quality Certificate
Wire rod per batch for delivery must have quality certificate which is subject to relevant standards and contract for goods. The following is indicated in the certificate:
